Simple Taper: Taper equations for the field forester

Abstract – Simple taper is set of simple linear equations based on stem taper rates with the intent of providing taper equation functionality to field foresters. The equation parameters are only two taper rates based on differences in diameter outside bark at two points on a tree. When compared to more complicated equation these equations are statistically equivalent. Average taper rate are provides from 11,610 stem analysis tree in 34 species from across the south. A Visual Basic program is also provided for the convenience of the reader.
