Board and Member Introduction

 

Board Member Elections

•  The members voted on whether or not to install a three vote minimum for next year's election. The proposal passed 7 to 6.

•  The following members were elected via the MOSCB annual meeting and any e-mails received before 3 pm on 2 February 2006 .

•  New candidates will take office as of 1 March 2006 .

 

Poster Winner

•  The winner of the 2006 MOSCB Poster Contest is Dustin Martin of University of Missouri-Columbia.

 

MOSCB Workshop

•  Nels Holmberg proposed a Biological/ Management workshop for MNRC 2007 and will work on it during the coming year. Membership approved of a state-of-biodiversity-in-Missouri theme covering several major taxa. Nels will try to obtain 2 session slots, with 30 min per talk.

 

Finance

•  The Flower Brochure Fundraiser last year brought in a total of $554.72. With additions of other donations and subtractions of MOSCB costs, the total ending Balance for MOSCB is $1007.46

•  A discussion of whether or not to hold the annual meeting and maintain the booth at Tan-Tar-A was discussed. A decision was made to keep both the room and the booth. Instead, those in attendance suggested having an auction at the annual booth at Tan-Tar-A to help raise funds. Dennis Figg offered to help with this, and it was suggested that members look for auction items over the next year.

•  Several members donated money at the meeting.

 

Glade

•  A member suggested having Duane Chapman write an article in the upcoming Glade on the current status of the Gravel Mining Issue.


•  Tracy Rittenhouse suggested a short article on the Ameren UE reservoir break.


•  Other suggestions for authors included, John Nehuys, Scott Hamilton, Terry Freuh, Dustin Martin.


•  Deadline for an article to be displayed in the spring edition of the Glade is 31 March 2006 .

 

Economic Growth Resolution

•  MOSCB board reminded membership that in November 2005, the Chapter passed a resolution in support of a letter on economic growth, to be submitted to the parent chapter.

 

Chapters Meeting at SCB 2006

•  The 2006 annual international SCB meeting will be held in San Jose , California . New Secretary Esther Stroh will be attending and representing the chapter.

 

Outreach

•  Bethany Williams and Daniel Hocking discussed last years outreach program on turtles. They anticipated a creation of a video that would be supplied to teachers, and/or the presentation of several education programs to science groups.

 

Website

•  Daniel Hocking described upcoming changes to the MOSCB web page. There will be a separate announcement page. New outreach page for children.

 

Member Status

•  There are two hundred and fifty-one members.

 

Photo Opportunity

•  A photo was taken of members present at the meeting, so it can be used at presentations and for the website.
