Objective
It has come to my attention that students own a wide variety of vehicle makes and types. We need an estimate of the diversity of vehicles used by commuting students at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Please take a random sample of 50 cars with a method of your choosing, from a large student commuter parking lots (Trowbridge or Hearnes, or Virginia).
Provide a report on October 31, 2007 listing a cross tabulation of the number of cars by make and vehicle type. Provide two bar graphs (Excel Column charts) of these counts. Describe the sample design. Please calculate the Simpson's index of Diversity and Shannon-Weiner's index of diversity of both manufacturers and vehicle types.
