Subject: Brewer Field House use

It has come to my attention that we need a good estimate of the number of students that enter the Brewer Field House in a average school day. I would like you to design and conduct a sample to determine the number of students that enter Brewer Field House in a average day.

Here are some of the sample guidelines:

Please consider the day as from 8am-5pm.
Count only people going into the Field House.
Sample only on a week day.
Please sample both doors.
Remember to account for differences in traffic between class change and during class change.
Please only count individuals and do not talk to or interview them in anyway.

In a previous inventory it was found the the between class counts had a variance s² of 9.0 and the within class had a variance s² of 64.0. This should help in determining the number of samples to take.

Provide a report on November 14, 2007 listing the mean, variance in your counts. Describe the sample design include how you descided how many sample to take. Please provide one other analysis that helps me interpret your results. This could be analysis of differences in doors or class-between class differences or another aspect using either using graphs or tests.
