Natural Resource Biometrics Rubric
This is a general guide describing how your reports are evaluated. The rubric
is divided into several sections. Each section addresses items that you must
have addressed in the project report. The effort of the evaluation is not to
make all reports identical but to have them adhere to consistent rules that
most all reports follow.
- Content
- This section refers to the written description of the sampling project.
- Objective
- Is the objective of the report written in a clear, concise and understandable manner?
- Methods
- Are the methods described so that others can reproduce the sample?
- Analysis
- Are the analysis clearly described so that others can understand the work
without confusion?
- Results
- Are the results clear and to the point? Do they match the objectives?
- Discussion
- Did the author explain the meaning of the results and consider any
confounding issues that are not represented in the data?
- Answers
- Can the calculated values be found and are they within the correct numerical range?
- Conclusion
- Is there a clear finding from the sample stated? Does it match the objective(s)?
- Format
This section refers to style and format issue that have been presented in
Class. The format focuses on the appearance of the report with professionally
accepted sections.
- Title
- Is there a clear understandable title?
- Authors
- Are the authors clearly listed and referenced?
- Tables
- Are the tables correctly formatted with captions in the correct place? Do
they add to the information conveyed by the report?
- Figures
- Are the figures correctly formatted with captions in the correct place? Do
they add to the information conveyed by the report?
- Outline
- Is the report outline logical, clear and easy to follow?

- Formulas
- Are formulas correct and complete. Are they presented in a way the is easy to read.

- References to figures and tables
- Are tables and figures referenced within the body of the report?

- Literature Cited
- Are the references cited properly and the listed at the end of the report?
- Quality
The section refers to the general impression the report makes. Does the report
present an impression of quality?
