Area Potentially Available (APA)

The Sylvan Stand Structure Model uses Area Potentially Available to determine crown size, shape and change. Area Potentially Available can be taught of interacting circle of various sizes. The radius of the circle indicates the maximum crown radius for the tree at it's current size. The intersecting lines are the weighted division of the space common to the intersecting trees.
