Species, Diameter and Crown Polygons

This section has the following measurement grouped. They include, assigning a tree species, which should only have to be done once per tree.

Measuring diameter at breast height (dbh) which is the only measurement that in not done electronicly at this time. Simply measure the dbh and enter in the input box. The soundness slider allow you to reduce the volume for cull.

Tree crown polygons are collected as radial vector around the tree. The measurer simply stand at the edge of the tree crown and fires the laser range device pointing back at the tree stem. Again the trees stem radius is added to the horizontal distance from the crown edge to the tree stem surface. The azimuth is encoded from the compass. The input interface allow you to modify the crowns widest point from the species average to a specific widest point for this crown section. You must enter one crown section, but you can enter as many as you need to describe the crown polygon. The results is displayed as the crown radii are being measured. You can enter section out of order if you decide the more sections are needed and the program will sort them for you. We feel that this system is fast, easy and provide lots of flexibility to the field crew.
