Height GrowthThe Sylvan Stand Structure Model grows trees as a function of the tree's crown size and the amount of competition in neighboring trees. Initially you must specify the height-age curve for each functional group (species) in the plot.
Figure 1 is an example how this might be done. The red lines are height-age data trees from the plot to be analyzed. The parameters of the black curve are fit to the match the red line data. The first derivative or rate curve is also shown on the graph. This curve is used to determine the maximum rate point and the age and tree height at that point. |
