Software
The software for Sylvan Stand Structure
Model has gone through many iterations and some software has
been removed as it becomes out of date. The current iteration of the model
has four main modules and several service modules.
Software Modules
- Input
- (In development) Input
is designed to read your data entered into a spreadsheet and then passed to
this program. It generates a set of parameters for the plot. This program
will be graphically oriented to allow your to interact with the input data and
produce parameters that make sense. Then the program will output a properly
formated and parameterized file in the Sylvan
format.
- Generate
- Generate is a program that reads the
file produced by Input and generates a stand
of a similar statistical character at a nominal unit area (1 acre for english
units and 1 hectare for metric units). Users seldom measure mapped plots at
these large dimensions. The model works much better with a larger plot to
grow. This module is none graphical and requires a Sylvan file in and producing a Sylvan file out.
- Grow
- Grow is a program the takes a plot and
steps the plot forward a number of time steps. This module is none graphical
and requires a Sylvan file in and producing a
Sylvan file out.
- View
- Sylview is a program that takes a Sylvan output file and lets you view the model output in graphical, map, profile and tabular views.
